[BOOK REVIEW] Hidden Wings - Cameo Renae

Today I'll be reviewing for you guys a book many of you may not have heard of it yet, and it is Hidden Wings, by Cameo Renae, which is a paranormal/supernatural young-adult novel and it is the first book of the series.

The story is about a seventeen year-old girl, Emma Wise, who wakes up in a hospital to find out that she had been in a car accident and was the only survivor.

Now, she has to move to Alaska with an aunt she never knew existed.

During her travel she realises that weird things are happening around her, and there's something wrong which no one but her aunt is in liberty to tell her about.

After arriving at her aunt's, she finds out what she is really destined to be.

So the book was really easy to read, I read it in a couple of days. I had been reading a lot of dystopian novels so this one was refreshing. The romance part was pretty standard for these kind of books, but I like the standard.

I read the ebook of it, and maybe that's just in the virtual book, but there was a lot of  missing and repeated words here and there, which annoyed me a little, but nothing major.

I also didn't like the fact that there was so many main characters that were brought up all the time, because I have a lousy memory when it comes to names, lol. Luckily the ebook for kindle has a little "thingy" where you can access easily to see the characters descriptions. But if you have an easier time associating names to characteristics it shouldn't bother you.

So overall I recommend this novel, even more for people who are beginning to read supernatural/paranormal books.

[BOOK REVIEW] Never Give Up Your Dreams - Augusto Cury

I just finished reading the first self-help book that has actually helped me: Never Give Up Your Dreams, by the amazing  brazilian psychiatrist, psychotherapist and writer, Augusto Cury.

I read the portuguese version and I know there is a spanish version, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find an english one.

So if you understand portuguese or spanish make sure to check it out, if not, I recommend you still read other books by Augusto Cury that has been translated to english because it WILL be worth it!

In this book he tells the story of a few of the greatest dreamers, such as Abraham Lincoln , Martin Luther King and Jesus Christ, doing a psychological review on their minds and actions, and explaining why having dreams is so vital.

It is just amazing, I read a little bit every morning and it would just put me in a better mood to face my daily routine.

So I recommend this book 100%, if you decide on reading it, you won't regret it!

[BOOK REVIEW] Crossed - Ally Condie

Today I will be reviewing a book that I just finished reading: Crossed, the second book of the Matched trilogy by Ally Condie. Click here to check my review on the first book, Matched.

Now, this one blew me away. I mean, the first book was already amazing, but this one is wordless.

This time the novel is told by both Cassia and Ky's alternating point of view. Cassia is trying to get to Ky, who's been sent to the Outer Provinces to, basically, die, and Ky is trying to get back to the Society to find Cassia. So this book makes you anxious to see what is going to happen, and you keep wishing for them to just meet each other, but then something happens and they get further apart, making you want to read the book non stop. That goes on into about half of the book, when they finally find each other.

In Crossed a lot of juicy secrets are revealed, from all of them, including the Society's, and new characters, that are just as captivating and misterious as the main ones, appears. It's interesting to see how they change and grow throughout this book, in comparison to the first one, as they find and see things they never expected to or knew it existed.

I don't want to say much more so I don't spoil the book for you, but it's basically the journey of Cassia and Ky to finding freedom from the Society and for themselves.

If you read Matched, I recommend you to read this one because it is even better and you are going to love it!

[BOOK REVIEW] Matched - Ally Condie

I'm here today to review an amazing romantic dystopian book, called Matched, by Ally Condie. This is the first book of the Matched trilogy, and let me tell you right up front: it is worth reading.

       
The story is told by Cassia Reyes's, the main character, point of view, and it is about an utopic society where the government controls everything you do claiming it is for humanity's  own good. So the world is free of deseases, the people has their job chosen for  them based on their capability, they all wear the same clothing and they all die at the age of 80. But Cassia slowly realises, as she gets played by the Society, that the system in which she believed her entire life, isn't that perfect.



Now, when you start this book you think you can predict what is going to happen, and at first you are right: there's the forbidden love and the desire of freedom. But then as you read more and more, small details, that where previously there, but untold, are added to the plot, which changes everything.


The author has a really good writing style, so the book is really easy to read. If you haven't read a dystopian book yet, I recommend this to be the first one you do, because you are gonna love it if you don't, don't blame it on me though. And if you have read others, like Divergent and Delirium (and loved them), you're gonna like this one for sure.

[BOOK REVIEW] Marked - P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

So this is my first book review, and I'm here to tell you about Marked, by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, which is the first book of the House of Night series, and it tells the story of Zoey Montgomery Redbird in the initiation of her vampire life.

I confess I have already read the first five books of the series, but since it was a while ago, I'm re-reading it, for my entertainment and to also bring you a "fresher" view of the book.

Zoey progresses a lot in this first book, going from a teenager who had a certain prejudice about vampires, to a chosen one by Nyx, the vampire goddess, to save the world from something that it's about to happen - which is not revealed in this book.

     
Since she is a 16 year old girl, the book allows teenagers to identify themselves with the situations Zoey goes through - hopefully not with the blood thirst though. And, maybe with less seriousness and a little more fun, even readers that are more mature can appreciate the story.

In this book vampires are a little different. Some cliche are left behind and some are changed, and it has its story mixed with some of the Cherokee's (Native American tribe indigenous to the Southeastern United States) history. Also, vampires coexist with humans.

Since I've read 4 more books, I can tell you that the story does change, the plot isn't very "still", which is something that might bother and even bore some people because of its complication, but I still recommend it, I think it's a really well written book with a unique story that has the power to draw you in once you've started it.
It's a love it or hate it kind of book, just go and see what you think about it!
