[TV SHOW REVIEW] Eye Candy - MTV

poster of Eye Candy - MTV
NO SPOILERS

So, I am seriously considering only doing reviews on tv shows, because I'm watching so many of them and there's always a new one for me to check it out, but I'm not so sure yet. What do you guys think?

Anyways, this time I'm reviewing for you guys a thriller show starring Victoria Justice: Eye Candy.

Eye Candy is about a hacker girl woman, Lindy Sampson (Victoria Justice), who witnessed her sister's kidnapping three years ago. Now she has a blog where she helps other people find their missing dear ones while she tries to find her sister as well.

Meanwhile, Lindy's friend Sarah signs her up, against her will, into online dating, where she comes across a cyber stalker/murderer. Lindy teams up with the police to help them catch him.

MY OPINION
The plot of the show is awesome, I really liked it. But the actual show is not that good.

The pilot episode is all over the place - in a good way. I liked the approach they tried there, it was different; so much happens that you just cannot keep your eyes off of the screen, so I thought the show was going to be amazing, but that's not what really happened.

The story ended up being super rushed up in all the episodes so far, which doesn't give you time to relate to and care for the characters.

The acting is not the best either, I just don't believe in the characters at all.

So far I'm still watching it to see if something changes, since it only has been aired 4 episodes. But it's really a shame that they weren't able to do better at this, because like I said, the plot is really good.

Overall I do not recommend this show (see, told you I'd eventually run into a not-so-good tv show), but if my opinion changes I'll let you know.

[MOVIE REVIEW] Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014)

poster of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day 2014
5 stars rating

NO SPOILERS

Today I will be reviewing a super fun comedy movie based on Judith Viorst's children's book of the same name: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
Yep.

Here's the trailer :

The movie is about a 11-year-old boy, Alexander Cooper (Ed Oxenbould), who always seems to have horrible days while the rest of his family are succeeding at their lives.

In the morning of his twelfth birthday, while everyone is asleep, he makes himself a little birthday cupcake and thinks how he would like if the rest of his family were to have a terrible day, so they'd understand what his everyday felt like. And his wish comes true turning that day into a complete disaster.

I had so much fun watching this movie. It's just that innocent fun type of movie, totally safe to watch it with your family.

The actors were just perfect for this, which is something very important to me. It has the participation of Jennifer Garner (Alias) as Alexander's mother, Steve Carell (The 40-year-old Virgin) as his father, Dylan Minnette (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; Scandal) as his older brother and Kerris Dorsey as the older sister.

They just don't make movies like this so frequently anymore, so I definitely, definitely recommend it!

[BOOK REVIEW] Hidden Wings - Cameo Renae

cover of Hidden Wings - Cameo Renae
NO SPOILERS

Today I'll be reviewing for you guys a book many of you may not have heard of it yet, and it is Hidden Wings, by Cameo Renae, which is a paranormal/supernatural young-adult novel and it is the first book of the series.

The story is about a seventeen year-old girl, Emma Wise, who wakes up in a hospital to find out that she had been in a car accident and was the only survivor.

Now, she has to move to Alaska with an aunt she never knew existed.

During her travel she realises that weird things are happening around her, and there's something wrong which no one but her aunt is in liberty to tell her about.

After arriving at her aunt's, she finds out what she is really destined to be.

So the book was really easy to read, I read it in a couple of days. I had been reading a lot of dystopian novels so this one was refreshing. The romance part was pretty standard for these kind of books, but I like the standard.

I read the ebook of it, and maybe that's just in the virtual book, but there was a lot of  missing and repeated words here and there, which annoyed me a little, but nothing major.

I also didn't like the fact that there was so many main characters that were brought up all the time, because I have a lousy memory when it comes to names, lol. Luckily the ebook for kindle has a little "thingy" where you can access easily to see the characters descriptions. But if you have an easier time associating names to characteristics it shouldn't bother you.

So overall I recommend this novel, even more for people who are beginning to read supernatural/paranormal books.

[TV SHOW REVIEW] You're the Worst - FXX

poster of You're the Worst - FXX
NO SPOILERS

So today I will be doing a review on a comedy show called You're the Worst. The series has been renewed for a second season, but the airing date has not been released yet.

The show is about two people, Gretchen Cutler and Jimmy Shive-Overly, both with toxic personalities trying to make it as a couple.

Gretchen is a messy cynical PR executive and Jimmy is a selfish insensitive british novelist, both living in Los Angeles.

It is fun to see how their relationship works and don't. Not only that, but their friends and not so friends are also quite messed up which makes this show even funnier.

Attention, the series is rated as TV-MA-LSV, which means some content may be unsuitable for children under 17, containing coarse language, sexual content and violence. Although I don't think it has much violence.

This is one of my favorite shows so obviously I do recommend it.

I know it seems like I only do reviews on tv shows I like, but that's just a coincidence because I like almost every show I watch. But who knows, maybe I'll watch one and I'll unlikely hate it and advice you guys not to see it.

But for now go ahead and check out You're the Worst, 'cause it is the best ;)

[MOVIE REVIEW] Two Night Stand (2014)

poster of Two Night Stand 2014
MODERATE SPOILERS

Today I was feeling like watching a romantic comedy and came across the movie Two Night Stand, with Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now; Divergent; Project X) and Analeigh Tipton (Cycle 11 of America's Next Top Model; Warm Bodies) and I was like: yes!

So this is the movie I'll be reviewing this time! - If it wasn't clear already.

Now is it me or trailers these days just tells you everything about a movie? I'm telling you, I NEVER watch an entire trailer before watching a movie because it spoils the whole experience of being surprised by it!

But if you're one of those people who likes watching them, then here's it is :

So the movie is about an unemployed single girl called Megan (Analeigh Tipton), who lives with her not-so-happy-about-it-friend, Faiza (Jessica Szohr), and decides to try online dating.

After trying to get into a club with Faiza and her boyfriend and not being able to because she misplaced her ID, she ran into her ex-fiance and his new girl, and now she sees herself at the rock bottom.

That night she decides to have, for the first time, a one night stand with someone from the dating site, who turns out to be a guy named Alec (Miles Teller).

Unfortunately in the next morning as she tries to leave his place, she realizes she can 't because of a huge blizzard, turning the one night stand into two.

This movie was really fun. I believe the scenario they're in, relationship wise, is very relatable to a lot of people, which is something nice in a romantic comedy.

They were perfect for the role of young people who are just starting their lives, still figuring it out.

Is it just me or Miles Teller looks a lot younger than his actual age, which is 27? Well, congratulations to him.

For me there just wasn't a downside to this movie and it didn't leave anything to be desired, so yes I do recommend it!

Go check it out!

[TV SHOW REVIEW] Young & Hungry - ABC

cover of Young and Hungry - ABC family
NO SPOILERS

Today I'm reviewing a sitcom executive produced by Ashley Tisdale and starring the beautiful ex-Disney star Emily Osment: Young & Hungry.

The show was renewed for a second season, which is coming up this spring.Yay!

The series follows the life of a feisty girl named Gabi (Emily Osment) who gets hired as a personal chef by Josh (Jonathan Sadowski) and has to prove herself not only to him, but also to his personal assistant in order to keep the job.

The show also counts with the participation of Jesse McCartney as Cooper, a computer hacker who comes to work for Josh.

I found the series to be super easy and fun to watch, the characters are very bright and they all have a distinct personality which makes everything even better.

Because it is so simple and easy to like, I give this show 5 stars for sure :)

So go ahead and check it out!

[BOOK REVIEW] Never Give Up Your Dreams - Augusto Cury

cover of Nunca Desista de Seus Sonhos by Augusto Cury

I just finished reading the first self-help book that has actually helped me: Never Give Up Your Dreams, by the amazing  brazilian psychiatrist, psychotherapist and writer, Augusto Cury.

I read the portuguese version and I know there is a spanish version, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find an english one.

5 stars rating
So if you understand portuguese or spanish make sure to check it out, if not, I recommend you still read other books by Augusto Cury that has been translated to english because it WILL be worth it!

In this book he tells the story of a few of the greatest dreamers, such as Abraham Lincoln , Martin Luther King and Jesus Christ, doing a psychological review on their minds and actions, and explaining why having dreams is so vital.

It is just amazing, I read a little bit every morning and it would just put me in a better mood to face my daily routine.

So I recommend this book 100%, if you decide on reading it, you won't regret it!

[TV SHOW REVIEW] How to Get Away with Murder - ABC

poster of How to Get Away with Murder - ABCNO SPOILERS
Welcome to another tv show review!

This time I will be talking about a thrilling mysterious legal drama show called How to Get Away with Murder, that follows the life of a criminal law professor, Annalise Keating, and her five best students.

The series is currently on it's ninth episode in the first season.

The title alone makes you curious to find out more about the show, but it's when you start watching it that you're under its spell. The story already begins very mysteriously, alternating between how everything started and how things are currently. The inbetween is shown little by little in every episode, making you frustrated in a good way.

The bad thing about starting a show like this, is being able to keep up the story this good throughout the entire series, so I don't know how I'll like it once the current mystery is solved if it is.

But so far I'm really into it and I do recommend it.

I won't be getting into more details because, well, it's a mystery show and I'm guessing you want to find out what happens by yourself.

So go ahead and check it out!

That's it for this review, I hope I helped you guys!
